There is Grace in Denial
$400.00
There is Grace in Denial is part of the 5 Stages of Grief series. The series is representational of the artist’s journey after the loss of her dad. Not only did she pour her heart and emotion into each painting, but these paintings led the artist on a journey of grief and growth.
This piece represents denial, the surreal and disorienting first stage of grief the artist experienced after the loss of her father. Shades of purple move through the canvas in fragmented layers, reflecting the emotional numbness and disbelief that followed his passing—the feeling of life continuing while her reality felt suspended. The softened edges and blurred transitions mirror moments when the loss felt unreal, as if acceptance could be delayed by not fully acknowledging it. Fleeting breaks in texture hint at truth pressing through, only to be pushed aside again. This work captures the artist’s attempt to survive the initial shock of grief while her mind struggled to reconcile absence with memory.
